Médiathèque Michel-Crépeau

The La Rochelle metropolitan area's media library is a wide-open space that gives everyone access to knowledge, the arts and the joys of listening, watching and reading. There's always something going on in this facility, which is shared by the whole agglomeration and links up with the libraries and media libraries in the neighborhoods and communes, not forgetting the mediabus. Access is free for all, but a subscription is required to borrow documents.

The mediatheque d'agglomération's collection includes more than :
200,000 non-heritage books,
20,000 DVDS
40,000 music CDs and audio books,
1,000 contemporary prints and photos
500 newspapers and magazines
There are also numerous documents for on-site consultation, as well as a local and ancient collection of precious manuscripts and incunabula.
We even have Sumerian tablets dating back over 4,000 years!

25 years after its opening, the Michel-Crépeau multimedia library in La Rochelle is to undergo a major energy and functional refurbishment program: work will take place from July 2023 to September 2024. The building will close to the public on Saturday evening, July 8.
