We invite you to Médan, to the intimate home of one of the greatest writers of the 19th century, to the office of the master of naturalism, where Alexandrine Meley, the wife, and Jeanne Rozerot, the mistress, evoke Émile, the love that divided them and brought them together in an uncommonly respectful relationship.
Alexandrine and Jeanne exchanged more than ninety letters after Emile's death; but before reaching this level of complicity, the relationship went through duality, confrontation and frustration, before giving way to respect and tenderness, out of love for Emile and the children. It's a complex story, which doesn't call for judgment or morality. It was just as complex for Emile Zola, who - paradoxically in his work - was in love with truth.
