Screening of 2 films at Beauséjour, Friday, April 18, 2025:

At 7pm: "Le Monstre" (The Monster)

A film by Tanguy Conq, Tip & Shaft, Nefsea, 72 min, France, 2024
In the presence of the director

Le Monstre is an exceptional documentary: for more than 50 days, Tanguy Conq immersed himself, camera in hand, in the Transat Jacques Vabre organization teams, to the point of blending into the scenery, attentive observer of the slightest twists and turns of an extraordinary edition.
From negotiations with the classes and tugs to the last nightly weather briefing, and the mounting pressure on the shoulders of the race directors, we sweat for those who have to give the start.
The result is a film that tells us more than ever about the complexity of organizing an ocean race with almost 100 competitors, while the meteorological monster that is storm Ciaran, with its 55 knot winds and 8-meter waves, is preparing to mow down the tip of the continent...

At 9pm: "Bernard Moitessier, a certain encounter".

A film by Luc Sola. Self-produced, 58 min, France, 2024
With Fabien Clauw (former ocean racer and author of the Gilles Belmonte saga published by Paulsen).

A special tribute to the emblematic sailor, a documentary featuring unique archive footage and never-before-heard sound, recounting director Luc Sola's meeting with Bernard Moitessier in 1980 in Polynesia. The film tells the story of a legendary sailor and the impact he had on a whole generation, as well as the friendship that grew out of this meeting and lasted until his death. More than a tribute to Moitessier, it's also a document that will rekindle passionate memories for many of that generation, and show today's generation the example of an extraordinary, timeless human adventure.
