Exhibition - No code - PieR Gajewski

As part of the 2024 Philippines Art Residency Program, a cross-residency program between France and the Philippines, PieR Gajewski, a French cartoonist, was hosted in Manila for a two-month residency in the fall of 2024. This stay gave rise to an exhibition entitled "No Code" presented at Galerie Altro Mondo (Manila) from October 12 to 31, 2024. PieR Gajewski presented a series of drawings entitled "A day in a life", which Intermondes is now presenting.

Over 24 days, PieR Gajewski created a series of 25 cm images, inspired by the places he passed through in Metro Manila. The work explores the city's social contrasts, moving from poor neighborhoods, detailed in black ink to reflect their complexity and ingenuity, to wealthy neighborhoods, depicted in watercolor with simple geometric shapes to emphasize their cold, impersonal modernity. Through this artistic approach, the artist underlines the importance of carefully observing one's surroundings, highlighting the social divide and transformations in perception.
