Exhibition - Archives, empreintes citoyennes

Archives, historical sources par excellence, embody the notion of citizenship. From the creation of the Archives départementales during the French Revolution to contemporary document collection, from the communication of archives to their primary use (to establish rights and serve as evidence), the exhibition presents, through documents from the 18th century to the present day, how archives are imbued with citizenship.

Civil status records, municipal deliberations, matriculation registers and land registers, as well as ballot papers, voters' lists and court juries, are just some of the types of archive where the citizen, through time, reveals himself to us.
