Come and discover the film-conference on Newfoundland, Tuesday April 8, 2025 at 2:30 pm on the Beauséjour stage.
Graduates in Earth Sciences, Lynda Paquette and Martin Parent have been visiting
Quebec, their native land, for the past 20 years. The adventurous couple have also
explored the world. To date, they have visited some fifty countries. They present their latest
Newfoundland, Canada's best-kept secret!
The island of Newfoundland is located in eastern Canada. Its majestic fjords, rugged coastlines and
and protective bays have been shaped by the sea, and so has its history. Throughout the ages,
peoples have braved storms to reach its shores. Aboriginals, Vikings, Basque
French, English and Irish settlers. What legacy did these people leave behind?
It was with this question in mind that Lynda and Martin criss-crossed Newfoundland. They came across
fishermen, artists and writers, all committed to preserving their traditions.
Through this film, the filmmakers invite us to discover the culture and wild beauty
of a little-known region.
