Located in the tropical South-West Pacific, the Vanuatu archipelago (formerly the New Hebrides) forms a volcanic arc marking the boundary between two major tectonic plates: the "Pacific" and the "Australian". This geological context exposes populations to a dual seismic and volcanic hazard. But what is the risk for the people of Vanuatu?

What's more, the archipelago is located at latitudes that expose it to tropical depressions and cyclones, which are more numerous and more intense due to climatic upheavals. Here again, the question arises of the risk to populations and infrastructures.
