L'Hôtel de la Bourse

Seat of the Chamber of Commerce from 1760 to 2002. A building of the purest 18th century, with two wings joined by a gallery of columns delimiting a courtyard where the compass rose recalls the bas-reliefs (trophies, anchors, oars, sextants) in homage to maritime traffic, the source of La Rochelle's wealth. All its beauty lies in the perfect accuracy of its proportions, in the harmonious simplicity of its lines, which make it one of the most accomplished monuments in La Rochelle.
